In traditional northern quadrangle courtyards, the main doors and windows of all houses are oriented towards the center of the courtyard。 Even the rooms on the south side must have their main windows facing inward; they cannot be designed for easier lighting by having large windows face outward。 Instead, smaller rear windows can only face outward, ensuring that the overall layout of the courtyard remains unified and compact。 In modern apartment buildings, the orientation of doors and windows should not be too chaotic either, as this could lead to rebellious behavior in children。
